It was truly fantastic to attend HIMSS 22 in Orlando. I thought the conference was very well done. This year’s focus was entitled re-imagine Healthcare and it seemed everyone was talking “transformation”. While that’s a great buzzword for healthcare and much in need, I did not see much that appeared transformative. Much of what I saw was iterative building on prior initiatives.
Of course, there were the major established vendors, but my focus this year was to look at some of the smaller companies and/or start-ups and see what they had to offer.
These included H2o.ai, ANDOR, PAUBOX, RZero, ImpactSuite, Aida, RZeroMedixSpace, Sweetch, and many others.
I also participated on a panel on the Democratization of AI hosted by H2o.ai as well as attended an excellent panel put on by SureScripts, moderated by none other than “The Colin Hung” who did a fantastic job, and went to the pre-conference on Health Equity where the first speaker presented on how they were solving the issue of food distribution in rural Africa using drones. What a great idea.
I’ll have more on these two panels and some of the companies in a subsequent post, also look for future episodes of PopHealth Week where we’ll be speaking with some of the companies and people.
For me, the best part of this was actually getting together and seeing friends and colleagues face to face. I will add that HIMSS did a great job and while the attendance was not the 40,000 plus of pre-COVID days, it was apparently 29,000 which seemed plenty enough, and that made getting around easier, safer.
I’d also like to give a big thanks to those who worked in the Press Room and set up all that stuff. This year we were treated excellently and I heard positive feedback from a number of Press attending. And of course there were Pinksocks to hand out and a nice gathering for the photo.
