So I decided it was time to search out a Population Health Analytics platform that truly does more than the basics. You see back in 1999 when I launched Specialty Disease Management Services I had to develop an IT system for the first program, which was for persons living with HIV/AIDS. The system I developed and ultimately called Precept, included member demographics, medical and pharmacy claims, clinical information gathered from charts (there were nearly no electronic health records), some social determinants data and it assigned risks, created care plans, tracked all the activity of our staff and reported on outcomes both cost and quality. We continued to add new chronic diseases and conditions as we grew.
Since then I have not seen any truly outstanding Population Health Analytics platform, but that could be because I just haven’t found it. So I created the #PopHealthChallenge at this years HIMSS conference in Orlando to seek out a platform that truly wows me. You can learn more about the Challenge in this video and if you have a product that you think is really good, let me know.
