Welcome to the Accountable Health Blog site. Just a little background. I have been in the health system business for over 25 years after receiving a Masters in Healthcare Administration from Trinity University in San Antonio. During my career I have been a hospital administrator, health plan executive, disease management entrepreneur, president of a population health management company, Chair of the Board of the Care Continuum Alliance and now the founder and president of Accountable Health, LLC. My new company is really based upon the belief that the health system, and note I say ‘health” not “healthcare” system, needs two critical pieces for success:
- Accountability – all sectors of the broader health system need to be accountable from the individual to the providers, communities to payers, device manufacturers to mHealth providers, each has a role to play, but that role must be held to account and focus on:
- Health – the system must become one that is focused on the maintenance and improvement in health at an individual and population basis.
Through this blog I hope to share with you ideas, successes, failures and thoughts on how we can create a better system built upon Accountable Health.
